The World of Avatar

The film Avatar was a film directed by James Cameron and was released to the public in 2009. Seeing this movie with my grandparents a few years ago in an theater, and knowing little about the film I didn't know what to expect.
Avatar is about a character named Jake who is taken to a military base on a strange alien planet with poison gas for air. His brother, that has now passed, was working with the scientist there to communicate with the alien like creatures by creating a second body for them so they are allowed to walk freely there the world. These second bodies are called avatars, and are very similar looking to what the aliens on this planet look like. Jake continues his brothers work by learning to control his second body and later learns to leave with the aliens that are not killers but are only trying to pretext themselves from the humans. After seeing this movie, I believe Avatar to be an outstanding movie from the beginning to end with amazing graphics, well picked actors, and a story line that is easy to follow.

Beautiful Graphics

One of the first things you notice while watching this movie is its amazing graphics that had been put into this film. From start to finish it is almost impossible to NOT find it in every screen shot for it makes up the whole movie. Without the best technology we have now then none of this would have happened to purpose a beautiful film such as this one.
From the start of the film Jack is in an army helicopter flying over the land as it finally lands to see the new plants and surroundings that give this planet a magic feel to this alien world. Everything from the shape to the color of the huge jungle seems to pop and give a lively feel thanks to the work that was put into this.

When you first lay eyes on an avatar, you can't help but think how the directors could make that look so real. The amount of time put into the graphics can really show by looking at these alien creatures. Seeing this film, the avatars look so magnificent that you would think that they were real if you didn't know better. Everything from the skin color and shape of the body to giving them all characters show just how much they worked to make it all seem to come alive.

When you get into the middle of the movie, you get to meet one of the creatures that these aliens us as pets, the mountain banshee. These are large flying creatures that they are able to ride and come in different sizes and colors. To clamp one as a pet you must catch it and ride it which seems to be the most amazing part of the film for it took a while to make. When Jake has finally got a hold of his mountain banshee and is flying in the sky, you can't help but notice the view of the land below.

Without the amazing graphics that were placed in this movie, then this film would be just like any other. For all the time that was put into this movie, it really shows, and I cant wait to see more films that are spectacular like this one.

Character Cast

One of the biggest parts in doing a movie is picking actors that best represent there characters roll. Looks as well as acting skills are many things directors look for when picking out the new cast of members. Avatar seems to have picked a good handful of actors that play there parts well and giving there characters life to the story.

Jack Sully, played by Sam Worthington, is the main character in Avatar and I believe to be a good
fit for this roll. Looking like some normal guy who ended up in this weird alien planet helps add to the character he is playing and makes it more enjoyable for the viewers. As the movie continues, Jack grows as a character leading the audience to grow with him while he explores the world that is less know to humans.

Stephen Lang, playing Colonel Miles Quaritch, is a military man on the base who stands out from the other men. He seems to follow his own lead and is a 'get it done' type of guy. “I didn’t play a villain; I played a man who is doing his job the best way
that he can,” Stephen Lang says after being interviewed about his character he plays. His character plays an important part in this film for he is another threat that is added to the movie against the Na'vi people. Even though his character ends in the movie, I believe him to be an important part in this film.

Neytiri, played by Zoe Saldana, is one of the main Na'vi people on this planet called Pandora. She is the one to show Jack how to live as one of them and shows him many new things as he grows feelings for this alien women. She is a perfect fit for this roll
even though her body and face do not show on the screen, but her voice and movement line up well with her alien like character. Without this character then the audience would not have a close feeling to the Na'vi people and would have a different feel to the movie if the character was left out.

Characters with main parts to one time shows in a film doesn't matter when you are making a movie that the world will see. Everyone must play there part for characters are the reason why stories are so important and help give the audience feeling from happy to sad parts in a film. These cast of people fit well in this would of Avatar and play there parts well for an amazing feel for the movie.

The Story of Avatar

Stories are told all around the world from heroes, princesses and princes, horror and adventure to historical and urban legends. What makes up interested by these story telling is that we enjoy thinking and imagine of thinks that is different the the world around us. Every story you read to every movie you sit down to watch, all of it was once an idea in someones mind that was later given life.

Avatar is a very enjoyable movie with a easy to follow story line that builds this film well. You quickly learn at the beginning of the film that his brother had passed but they still have his avatar that he was supposed to use to connect with the Na'vi people. Jack ends up continuing his brothers work by learning to control his brothers avatar. The start of a film is very important for it needs to grab the audiences attention, and this movie does it well.

This film not only catch the audiences attention but also keeps it by adding adventure in this large world. Jack get to explore the alien world around him and learn how to live on this planet. Later in the movie, love is slowly added to the story for the main character, Jack, and one of the Na'vi people slowly fall in love as they learn about each other.

twists thrown into a story keeps the audience interested in a film or book and Avatar has a few of that placed in it. To the end of this amazing film, the humans are now attaching the Na'vi people as Jack takes the side of the alien creatures. You quickly come to believe that Jack is going to die at the end of this movie leaving it at a sad end. That quickly changes as Neytiri, the Na'vi alien that had grown feelings for him, saves him now knowing that he is human. This does not seem to bother her for she still has feelings for this human that she has come to know through the Avatar. To the end his soul is later moved over into the Avatar body thanks to the help of the Na'vi.

Not Just a Blockbuster Movie?

Avatar is a top rated for I believe Avatar is an outstanding movie from the beginning to end with amazing graphics, well picked actors, and a story line that is easy to follow. This amazing movie is about humans interacting with alien like creatures called Na'vi, as the main character, Jack, takes on his brothers work. He later learns how to work his brothers avatar and meets a young Na'vi woman named Neytiri as they slowly fall in love once they start to spend more time together. The humans
later attacking the Na'vi people as Jack takes the aliens side to try and save there planet from the humans that wish to wipe them out. Richard Corliss article talks about how this movie as become one of the top movies of its kind and is the most watched with five stars all the way. I agree with what he has to say for this film shows just how amazing our movies can be if we put in the time and effort to make such a beautiful film like this one. This film has shown us what humans can really do when we are given creative freedom to make things such as this.
